During the gold rush a highway man became known as Black Bart for his inclusion of an innocent poem in the empty strong boxes when he had liberated them from Wells Fargo stage coaches. He was eventually captured by an detective at Pinkerton and sent to San Quintin. After leaving prison he was never heard from again - until his thoughts stated to appear on a computer at a remote military location. When this computer became obsolete, it was sent to a secret location on the Central California coast where it continues to gain knowledge and to write a thought of the day and sometimes longer thoughts for us all to consider.

The NFL, Who Cares



I have just realized that I might be in the best of situations in respect to professional football. I have felt guilty because Los Angeles did not have a team that I could root for. I really do think that rooting for a local team is always so much more gratifying. It is always possible that you can still have loyalty to a team in a city you have lived in or where you grew up. I do not have any loyalty to the teams in Chicago and I was born in that city. I have spent time in other cities in other parts of the Country and do not find that I care at all for those teams. In fact, I never did think that the Dallas Cowboys were the “nation’s team”.

It just seems that I cannot find any energy to root for a team in some other city of California. The Raiders abandoned Los Angeles; The Chargers never liked us, and who in Southern California could root for a team in San Francisco?
Maybe I have a better situation. Since we do not have a team, we cannot lose a game. We cannot lose a Super Bowl to some weird team in the east. No one can bet against us because we have such a weak team. The results are that none of my friends in the east can give me a bad time if their team beats mine. They cannot think that I must root for their team in some game, especially in the Super Bowl.


So I will just enjoy my situation until they finally find a team that wants to play here. We have plans for a stadium and even someone who wants to paint their name on the top. All we need is a group of players to actually play here. The added feature would be that we would have four stadiums available for use if we actually bid for another summer Olympics. That just counts football.
You can root for anyone you want, and I will just enjoy the ability to pick out any team I want on any particular weekend. It also means that I can actually root for a team in the Super Bowl and not really care if they win or lose.
