For all the NCIS fans I must tell about my visit to Donna Bell’s Bake Shop located in the theater district of New York. (It is actually located at 301 W 49th street). This small bakery has many advantages in the business world. First the products that they are making are excellent and I do wish I lived in that area so that I could go back often. Second they have nice people working in the store. And finally they have Pauley Perrette as one of the founders. As a longtime fan, I had hoped I could meet Miss Perrette and would be able to do some joke about having to travel across the country to see someone who works in the same town where I live. I know that would have been fun for me, but just having some of the bakery goods made the trip worthwhile. We had gone into Manhattan to see a matinée of a Broadway play and were in early enough to have lunch and bought desert at the bakery. It turned into a perfect afternoon. Both the play and the bakery were just off of 8th Avenue and a carnival was going on that Sunday. It gave us a chance to walk down the center of the street. Being able to walk down the center of 8th Avenue on a Sunday is much more fun than walking on the sidewalk. Seeing fire station 54 located at the corner of 8th Avenue and 48th Street and it’s on going tribute to the fallen members of that team.
I had expected some grand place, but was pleasantly surprised to see a neighborhood bakery and the very comfortable atmosphere that it projected. I do not care if this sounds like an ad for the bakery. When I decided to stop at the bakery it was just because of Miss Perrette, but after going I know that I will go back to again enjoy the great food that they are producing. Next time I plan on trying the savory items that would make an entire meal. Check out the menu at Donna Belle's Bake Shop. It will show you the variety of items and that you can order for a party if you live in New York.

It was only one of the stops that we made on the trip and I will eventually talk about more of them, it is just that I was most surprised about this one and how good a small stop could become.
