In A Clandistine Location On The, Central California Coast, United States
During the gold rush a highway man became known as Black Bart for his inclusion of an innocent poem in the empty strong boxes when he had liberated them from Wells Fargo stage coaches. He was eventually captured by an detective at Pinkerton and sent to San Quintin. After leaving prison he was never heard from again - until his thoughts stated to appear on a computer at a remote military location. When this computer became obsolete, it was sent to a secret location on the Central California coast where it continues to gain knowledge and to write a thought of the day and sometimes longer thoughts for us all to consider.

Travel Security

We have come a long way in the improvements to the technical side of security at the airports around the world. They are always improving the methods that are used to look at people and what we take on airplanes. I understand that they are now testing equipment that will determine what is actually in those bottles that we want to have when we reach our destination. Think about it, we have been forced to go dirty because if you are traveling more than a couple of days you will run out of the basic hygiene products. That means either you buy more and throw away part of it or just go dirty. Did you ever find the brand that you use at home in those three ounce bottles or do you need to buy full size containers and loose most of it when you fly home. You can bring an empty bottle and fill it with airport water. JFK and Syracuse, NY water tastes better than the water in the fountains at LAX. Buying water inside of the secure area is expensive if it can be found. On the airplane you may be given water and they actually have the little bottles that would go through security. Now they are testing new equipment that will determine if the full size (over 3 once) bottles do not have banned liquids instead of what they say on the outside. This could save the travel public a lot of money. Besides in the battle of Coke vs. Pepsi you will be assured that you have your favorite. I do have one question. They are testing at only one airport? What good does that do? If you can take the larger size onboard at that one site what happens when you come home. So I will wait until they determine if this works or not and hope that I don’t have to travel much in the meantime.
One more thought. With all of the technical steps that are taken I think that I know what is the best way to spot those who have ideas that are not conducive to a safe flight. On my last trip I noticed more secondary screening. TSA specialists wandering around in the boarding area and asking questions. Nothing fancy, just people talking one on one to each other. Looking at the face of a person and seeing if that person is nervous about flying or about being asked more questions. I do not know what the results of this step has been and maybe I don’t want to know. I do know that I felt better knowing that those experts were around and that it was time for me to stand up, to wait for them to call by boarding group.
It was more entertaining then wasting time standing in line for more security at the entrance to the waiting area itself. So TSA keep up the good work and please don’t let the impatient or the dense ones get to you.
