Strain

“It Does Seem That Every Thing That We Do Will Put Some Sort Of A Strain On Us And That We Really Can’t Do Much To Prevent It If We Want To Get Anything Done No Matter The Period Of Time Involved.”

In A Clandistine Location On The, Central California Coast, United States
During the gold rush a highway man became known as Black Bart for his inclusion of an innocent poem in the empty strong boxes when he had liberated them from Wells Fargo stage coaches. He was eventually captured by an detective at Pinkerton and sent to San Quintin. After leaving prison he was never heard from again - until his thoughts stated to appear on a computer at a remote military location. When this computer became obsolete, it was sent to a secret location on the Central California coast where it continues to gain knowledge and to write a thought of the day and sometimes longer thoughts for us all to consider.

The Size And Shape Of College

I had a chance to visit Fresno City College last week during part of the ceremony to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the school. It is the oldest community college in California and the second oldest in the nation. I had not been on the campus in many years and the change is not just about the size of the school. I can remember parking in the area that is now a very nicely done plaza in the center of the campus. All we had was a parking lot between the main building and the library. I did notice that the attitude of the students seemed much different. When I attended it was a much younger campus and had less of the look of a college. We never did have groups of students gathered to discuss an issue or the issues of the day. That was one of the first things that I noticed on this visit. Of course the fact that my picture is no longer upon the wall in the student center was mildly disappointing. The book store and food area in that building seem so much more sophisticated than they were in the past. I found that the free speech area and the fact that a memorial plaza are in the center of campus are both very impressive. The information age is an important change for all schools and this one is no different. Many more ways are provided to communicate and to get information to those who are on campus. I did notice more emphasis on the security of the students with the ability to get in touch with campus security when it is needed. This is one of the unavoidable changes in society today. The need for most college campus to put telephones in public places to contact security is needed but it is still sad. These are the changes in the physical campus and they show the change in the education system that has again placed an emphasis on the community college. It seems that this comes about every time the economy makes the four year schools more cost prohibitive. It was true in the 1960’s and again today. The fact that the community colleges are more cost effective seems to be less important in a better economy.

All of these things are what makes our community colleges a more lively and better part of our local society.
