Is everything in your life set up with a timer?
I seem to think that many of the every day elements in my life come with a timer function so that I can live without having to bother to start or end their function. It just seems that the more that I set up a life were I do not have to bother with the simple things the more complex it seems to become.
Here is a list of some of the things that I depend on to keep my life going in the silly pace that I seem to think is necessary.
1. The air conditioner is on a step down timer so that it will only cool or heat at a people friendly temperature when there are people in the house.
2. A timer makes sure that the lower voltage lights come on at dusk and make the outside of the house look nice.
3. The pound is on a timer so that the fish will be happy.
4. The sprinkler system is timed to get a nice looking lawn without a hassle each morning.
5. And then there is the VCR to set for a copy of my one show that I record.
All of these things are designed to make life easy but do you notice that most of them are electric and that adds to the things that need to be adjusted for the changes in season and I have not included many of the other devices that have clocks and need to be constantly set. Thankfully the computer will at least correct itself from another time source so I have one clock that does not need to be reset for daylight savings time despite the fact that they can not determine when we should do the change from year to year. All of these factors are the way that I make things do what I want until there is a power failure of some mechanical problem that I can not determine until it is too late to correct. We will eventually be controlled by one central computer that will control all of these functions and may be so complex that all we will want to do is sit and stare at a blank wall because nothing will actually work when we want it to work.
