Vacation is over and it’s time to see what the results of this year’s travel is on my goal to visit all 50 states. It seems that as I have gotten closer to this goal it will become harder to visit them all. The major part of travel this year was a train trip that started in New York, had a layover in New Orleans and then ended in Los Angeles. This travel did result in covering many states and actually resulted in crossing several additional states from the “to do” list. It makes the completion of this goal actually seem further away since it seems more difficult to do all of them at one time.
The four remaining states are: South Dakota, Oklahoma, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Now I will need to see if it’s possible to visit all four on one trip. It does not seem that it may be possible but then getting to this point seemed impossible when I started to try to achieve this goal. The next thought is what will actually be the last state to be visited. I know that the first state I visited was probably Indiana. The first state that I was in was Illinois since I was born in that state. Only one more question remains. Do I need to add the territories to my list? Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands? It is all relative since whatever happens nothing will charge in the bigger picture of the world but it is fun to think that no matter how briefly I have seen all of the country and come to the conclusion that I’m living in the part of the country were I’m most comfortable.
