People will wonder why some of us
become curmudgeons when we get older. It
is most likely that we have always been that way and are encouraged to show
that as we get older. It is also
possible that we have fewer inhibitions and are not as restricted on how we
show our emotions to others. Maybe the
fact that we have seen so much in our lives gives us more things that we want
to communicate to others.
It is possible that some of the
everyday distractions are the cause of our actions. Some of the things that get in your way and
make you want to vent your feelings are:
1.
The computer does things on its own and without
any obvious cause and when you try to fix the situation it is not possible
because you cannot find any cause for that situation. During this writing session it has repeatedly
tried to start Microsoft Media player.
2.
The weather makes you cranky and since you have no
ability to change the weather. You are
stuck with what comes your way. Of
course you can ignore what is going on but when you are older you find it a
good excuse to gripe.
3.
The telephone is annoying to everyone but you
can actually complain about it. Even
with the no call list you get far more calls from sales people then from people
you know.
a.
Realty sales people who not only want to sell
your house but want you to provide them with people who want to buy a house
b.
Bathtub companies that call repeatedly despite
the fact that you tell them you hate bathtubs and if you want a spa in your
house you will install one on your patio.
c.
The shipping department despite the fact that
they don’t tell you what company they represent and are in fact automated calls
designed to sell you an inferior product.
The shipping department is a chan that goes way back and is the scourge
of purchasing agents for years. Brian
just called again; he is annoying even if he is an automated call.
4.
Everyplace that you walk is uphill and it seems
to change on your way back. That
expression came from an old person. “When I was a child I walked to school and
it was 15 miles each way uphill and in the snow.” This may have been true but it gets worse
when you get older.
Think about all of this when you
are dealing with an older person because you know that sooner or later and it
is probably be sooner you will be in the same position and you will be writing
your own version of this blog posting.
Think young that is all you can do.
