In A Clandistine Location On The, Central California Coast, United States
During the gold rush a highway man became known as Black Bart for his inclusion of an innocent poem in the empty strong boxes when he had liberated them from Wells Fargo stage coaches. He was eventually captured by an detective at Pinkerton and sent to San Quintin. After leaving prison he was never heard from again - until his thoughts stated to appear on a computer at a remote military location. When this computer became obsolete, it was sent to a secret location on the Central California coast where it continues to gain knowledge and to write a thought of the day and sometimes longer thoughts for us all to consider.

Barney

Well I did find a place in New Jersey that is actually nice.

Yes this is me and no one is forcing me to say this.
The fact is, that much of the state is OK. The problem is that some of the state does deserve the less then stellar reputation that it has.
We did have the chance to visit Barnegat Light House on our recent trip to Washington D.C. The lighthouse is a key part of the commerce of our nation. Even today it is an active part of the safety of those who go to sea in ships. Remember that no matter how fancy the equipment on some ships some do still depend on the light house to get safely back to port. The time we spent at Barnegat Light was an enjoyable period of time.
The light house was open to the public and you could feel the difference in the people of yesterday from those of today. We feel so cramped in the small rooms, now days, but the light house was a family business. Not just the keeper of the light, but the whole family had a part in the safety that was needed to do this job. I wonder what it is like to work and live in these sparse quarters. The families were on their own most of the time. No, I didn’t walk all the way to the top of the tower but the view is shown live in the study center at the base of the tower. It is so nice of them to allow those of us who do not do long flights of stairs to enjoy the view.

I really would not want to be here in a Nor’easter. This is the small town on a spit of land, that can easily be overrun by high tides and things. It's what you expect the Jersey shore should be. Summer fun obviously happens on the road to Barney. It is the place that people go to have a great time and get away from the city life and the pressure of work. Some of us do know that places like this must exist for our sanity.

Since I prefer sunsets to sunrise I think that I will stay with the west coast and the areas on Highway One for most of my coastal visits...but it was a nice day trip and I was glad to experience it.

Hey, I know that place! :-)

So glad you and Angel enjoyed it. The lighthouse was one of my Dad's favorite places to visit in his last years. He couldn't do the 217 steps either, but he was always content to just sit on a bench and watch the boat and foot traffic go by, enjoying the view and the sea breeze. It was a nice place for us to visit, relax and yet still be sure to return home before his supplemental oxygen would run out.

Also, in my younger days, my Dad, his Dad, my brother, and I would occasionally go out fishing on one of the party boats from a marina not far from the lighthouse.

For me it was truly a pleasure to be able to help someone else have that first-time experience and thus see it a little through their eyes for a change. But it was an even greater pleasure just meeting you both.

One thing I've never done is visit there when there's been snow on the ground. Usually too busy plowing and digging out locally and too tired after. Plus there's also the pure cold factor too, in that I don't tolerate it well. I certainly don't blame anyone for preferring the California coast venues... nope, not at all!

Hey, my friend, you found the post!

I was just shocked that he enjoyed it as much as I did. Thank you again, for putting it up on my radar and my "Must do this someday" list.

Minus the huge amount of driving I did that day, it was indeed a perfect day and yes, we received a new view of New Jersey, by not coming at it from NY.

Of course, they can dump Elizabeth NJ into the ocean and I don't think anyone would care... lol
