THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY ?

Well that time of year has come and people’s thoughts are split between what to give as presents for those around you and an introspective look at what the past year has meant to your life. This time I just want to write about what this season and how most of us see the world around us. Those of us who work in the retail world spend all of our days either dealing with the pressure that some people make for themselves or trying to keep all of those products that people seem to think are great presents on the shelves. Some people just do not seem to be able to enjoy anything about this time of year unless they are putting a lot of pressure on other people. Some people seem to need to have the first or the most expensive items to give or just must have it all for themselves and they are taking advantage of any reason to have those items. Yes there are many people who are still kind and those who are fun to talk to and to serve because they can take the time to be cordial even when you know that they are in a hurry. It seems that when this time of year comes there are always people who will do almost anything to save money and they do not care who gets in their way. Every city has its stories of violence. Yes I mean black Friday and the events that make the news. That group of people who you want to put in a room and ignore because you do not want them around you. Actually most of that type person should be sequestered all of the time. No matter what you do to protect them they will try to do what they want and not what the group needs to do to be safe and successful. I do not really want to dwell on that group of people. I just want to emphasis that they are not of any nationality or religion or social status. Rude ugly people come from all parts of society. Even those who you can see are used to having money can become ugly when the economy makes them lower themselves to shop where they can save money and not have the luxury service that they had in past years.
I do want to thank those who can stop and have a nice word to say while they are forced to deal with the rude and the rushed who do not want to give them the time that they need. We who sell to them do try to deal with both groups and try to give just that little extra to those who are nice to us because they know that at some time they may be the one who is selling a product. Just think that if you do any type of work that involves a product of service you will need to sell it to someone else so that you can make that money you will want to purchase items for your holiday list or even as a present for yourself.
So let me remind everyone that that person who is the clerk you are interacting with may become your customer latter. I know that many of my customers are friends and I do see the same people when I go out shopping and I remember who were nice and where I will not spend my money.
