Does anyone really like to buy anything from a machine? I was listening to a local Los Angeles TV station this morning when Gail Anderson did an opinion piece on the new machines at the TV station. She pointed out that with the remodel of the employee lounge the new machines raised the prices and apparently did nothing to increase the quantity in the packages. This pointed out the common complaint from employees all around the world. Vending machines generally cost too much money and they never have the products that are popular. Where I work, there is one employee who is constantly trying to get them to keep the root beer in stock. It is popular enough that it is always empty. The people who refill the machines do not seem to care that they are alienating customers and are loosing potential sales. When the machines have the items that people want, then it may just be that the only reason that they have stock is because the machine is not working. Coffee machines seem to be the worst offender. They tend to have coffee because they just take your money and never deliver any product. I can not name the exact location because the person who services the machine is very large and might try to damage my body. But they spend more time repairing the machines then they do putting products into the machines. When you work at a place that sells candy bars and yet are too lazy to go out of the employee rest area to purchase them, then you deserve to pay the inflated prices. The fact is that most people do not have that option and are forced to pay those high prices. The vending machines have a clientèle that is forced to either purchase from them or have nothing for lunch. I will not even start to give my opinion of the trucks that deliver food to most industrial areas. I last purchased food from one of those in 1987. So enjoy the limited rest time and if you really want anything that is fresh or healthy, bring it from home if you can.
